Christmas is coming!

I have been having a fun Christmas season so far. I am very excited and I have had presents already! We got an X-wing sled early so we could go sledding when there was snow on the ground. Sledding with the rest of the kids and Dad was so fun, especially when I went off a jump!

I had a Christmas program at my school. We mostly just sang for all the parents and grandparents, like 100 people. My favorite song was "Felice Navidad".

Here we are taking apart our Fishing Game because it was making really loud squeaking sounds. My Dad showed us how all the components worked, and then he fixed it! He is so cool.

Peep

Today is the worst day of my life. Guess what happened? Someone died. Guess who it is? Peep. It was sad burying her. My mom helped me bury her behind the fence by our house. We put a stick by where Peep was buried and I hope we can remember her because I love her. Me and my mom when we were done burying her, we cried because it was sad to bury Peep. I said I loved her and I know that she is in heaven and I know that I can see her again.

Eva turned out to be a rooster!

We took Eva to a nearby farm, the neighbor didn't like to hear her crow in the mornings. So we gave it away. They had lots of chickens, a goat, and cats, I hope she'll be happy there.

That same day we went to a chicken farm and picked out a new one for Miles. It is all white, so we named her snowball. She always goes in the opposite part of the chicken coop or the yard as the other chickens because she is afraid of them. I hope they all become friends. Here Miles is holding snowball but he dropped her and it looks like she's going in the food down the slide on Miles' arm. Ha ha ha!

We try and hold her alot so she will get tame like the others. The lady we bought her from said she would start laying in August.

Our pets

We got these chickens for Easter as chicks, they were really cute! Their names were:
Buff Orpington - Eva, or, Big Fat Eva, or Big Foot as we began to call her when she turned out to be the biggest and the fattest, and has HUGE legs and feet! This one is Miles'
Rhode Island Red - Peep, she is Tyson's
PLymouth - Wally is Brielle's, but Miles got to name it.
Silver Lace Wyndotte - Birdie is Kayla's
Easter Egg - Kaiya, or, Puffy Cheeks because now that she is bigger she has lots of feathers on her cheeks making them look puffy! This one my mom picked out.

They love to run around in our backyard and eat grass, bugs, and sometimes our garden. Sometimes they argue about the worms. Once Eva and Wally were arguing about a worm and Eva got it because she pulled harder than Wally. Sometimes the worms break in half!

Right here Kayla is holding Puffy Cheeks. Now here I am holding Puffy Cheeks, before her cheeks got puffy.
When they were really tiny and little we kept them in our house in a big tupperware. They eat chickie food, and will until they start laying eggs.
They loved to perch on this piece of wood. This picture they are all asleep. Sometimes when they were little and they were all on the perch they would rock themselves.

This is before we had Kaiya. We bought her a week later than the others.
The yellow one is Big Fat Eva, the orange one is Peep, the black and white one is Birdie, and the black one is Wally.
Big Fat Eva might be a rooster. We think so because we heard her crow, the waddle and the comb are really big, her tail feathers are big, and she chases my mom all around the yard and she pecks my mom when she's just trying to be nice. Eva has only pecked me once, and has never pecked Miles or the girls.

This is my Peep. My chickie Peep. I touched Peeps eye, the other day, because I wanted to know what it felt like. And then the next day Peeps eye was closed. She didn't open it for almost two weeks. We were worried she would be blind, but she opened it and she was okay.
I love Peep because of the name and she's puffy. I named her Peep because when she was small she peeped a lot. I never want to eat our chickies.

Talent Show

Only two more days of school left. Today was camping day and the talent show. Camping day is when you make tents out of your desk and read underneath. My mom got some books from the library that I could read and I had great time. They had smores but they were soooo messy. So messy that I spilled two times on the carpet. I only got to read one and a half books: "The Bear Detectives" and something else.

The talent show was fun. I played two songs on the piano: Star Quest and Dakota Melody. I felt a little shy, but it was still fun. Lots of people did Karate, but I like playing the piano it's fun.

Pheasant Hunting

Once I went pheasant hunting with my Dad, Grandpa, Eric, Paul, and some other men. We had lots of fun. When we started to go it looked kind of dark because it was really early in the morning. We went out to breakfast to a restaurant and I had french toast. We drove in my Grandpa Holmans truck. It was pretty far away and we stopped at a farm. We went to the three kings and then went to a farm. The three kings are rocks with designs scraped in the rock. We found some other drawings too. I don't know who did them. I just know that people long ago made them.

Here I got to hold a pheasant. It was heavy and a little frozen. I only got to hold a rooster.

Pheasant hunting was fun, we had dogs that helped us find the pheasants so we could shoot them. I didn't get to shoot any. I got to shoot a can, though! It was so fun that I wanted to do it three times. There was a little aiming thing on the gun that helped me hit the can. Once I got to do it myself and was pretty powerful and pushed me back.

Miles hit me

Miles and I were chopping snow outside. We were playing a new game. Then we moved to a different spot. I accidentally hit Miles in the cheek with my shovel. He was hurt, but was really brave. He only cried for a minute, then went inside, then popped out the front door.

Then, we went back to shoveling. We were pretending the snow piles were castles. I was using a shovel and Miles was using a hoe.
Then we went back to chopping and then Miles accidentally chopped me in the head! It hurt a lot! I leaned my head over so the blood would drip in the snow. Mommy called dad on the phone and he said that he could give me stitches when he came home. I went inside and my mom took care of me. She put an ice pack on my head so it could feel better, she wrapped me up in a blanket, and we put on a movie so I could be still and get the bleeding to stop.

When my Dad got home we ate dinner, then he tried to give me shots to make my skin numb, but it hurt too bad! I told him to give me the stitches without the shots.
Here I am getting a shot.

My mom held me on a chair while me Dad gave me three stitches. It hurt a lot, on every stitch. I was watching Peter Pan on the TV to distract me. I was really brave, and my parents were proud of me. It's all better now, there is hardly a scar any more. I won't ever worry about it again.

Diaper head

When my mom and dad were watching the Super Bowl Kayla needed a diaper change, so I took a clean diaper and put it on my head like a helmet. Miles was in the bathroom, so I went and showed him and he laughed! It was funny.

Dad has put on new door knobs in our house. I don't really like the new ones because I don't like the shape. It looks kind of weird, being egg shaped, and the circle ones are easier to open. I also like the gold color better. Mom and Dad decided to change them even though I tried to tell them about perceived obsolescence. Why did they change them?

BEFORE:

AFTER:

Dad and I were playing puzzles and having a good time. I like putting puzzles together because I like the puzzle shapes.

We made costumes at school and we were all penguins because we are learning all about them. I have learned that they live in Antarctic, they eat fish, and my teacher has read a book to us called "Mr. Poppers Penguins".

Can God MAKE you do something?

I asked my Mom if Satan could MAKE you do something. She said, "No, he just tries to influence our decisions." Then I said, "The only person who can MAKE you do something is God, right?"
"Why do you say that?" said my mom.
Here is the story:
A long time ago I was about to sneak something. Then God made me so I didn't do it. He did it by talking to my mind. I'm glad that that happened. I think it was cool.
I also asked my mom how I was supposed to be like Jesus. I got really sad and started to cry. I explained to my mom that I was upset because I was afraid to die on the cross like He did. Now I know that only one man did that. There is one Savior for us all. I can't wait to see what people do in heaven.

Here are some pictures of me writing 10 times, "I will treat Miles kindly"

Volcano!

The other day we made volcanoes. When we made volcanoes, we made them out of playdough. We cooked them, then we put them outside in the backyard to make them hard. We painted them with our paints then put dinosaurs all around the volcanoes. To make them explode, we put a toilet roll in the middle, then spooned some baking soda in the bottom. A few drops of food coloring next to make red lava. Then we got some vinegar and poured it in. It exploded! It worked several times and was really interesting.

Later my dad explained why it exploded. When the acid from the vinegar gets on the soda it makes carbon dioxide. The carbon dioxide makes the bubbles, making the volcano explode!

If you want to try it, I would say do it, and you can tell me about it on your blog. (If you have one).

Kayla cried the whole time.
